We encourage you to seek out these books at your local bookstore.
Howard Thurman was a theologian, philosopher, and civil rights leader whose writings on spirituality and social justice deeply influenced the Civil Rights Movement. As the first Black dean of a predominantly white university chapel, he emphasized the power of contemplative faith to inspire nonviolent resistance and personal transformation.
Cole Arthur Riley is a writer and poet known for her work on spirituality, race, and contemplative practice, particularly through her book This Here Flesh and the Instagram project Black Liturgies. Her writing blends personal narrative with theological reflection, inviting readers into a deeper awareness of justice, embodiment, and sacred storytelling.
Osheta Moore is a pastor, speaker, and author passionate about peacemaking, racial justice, and everyday shalom. Through her writing and her work in ministry, she encourages a faith rooted in nonviolence, spiritual formation, reconciliation, and radical love.
